Gladys Cosio-Burger, born in Morelia, Mexico, holds a BFA and a Master’s in Bilingual/Bicultural Education. A retired dual-language teacher, she returned to art after raising her daughter, working in drawing, ceramics, and mixed media. Her recent work, inspired by anthropomorphic clay figurines studied by archaeologist Marija Gimbutas, honors Old Europe’s peaceful, matristic culture. Gladys’s art reflects her identity as a bilingual woman of color and her passion for social justice and interconnectedness with nature and the cosmos.
