ABARAKA AWARD

SAEAS  is excited to provide Abaraka Award grants for African-American women, as an initiative designed to assist early- to mid-career visual artists nationally. We seek to assist visual artists who demonstrate a commitment to their craft and artistic communities. The funding is intended to further the recipients’ artistic practices and encourage career longevity.

ABARAKA AWARD GRANT TYPES

ARTISTS GRANT

Designed to fund production of a multi-piece visual art project that will be exhibited when the artist may be at a critical stage in her career, and where this funding would have the most impact. For more information or to apply to the Artists Grant Application.​

​CURATORIAL/EXHIBITION ASSISTANCE GRANT

 

Designed to assist visual artists nationally with cash funding to help defray the costs of curating and mounting an exhibition​​. For more information or to apply, view the Curatorial and Exhibition Assistance Grant Application.

​​ARTS PROFESSIONAL GRANT

​

Designed to assist in completion of either a written research project that documents the roles and impact of African American women in the visual arts in the U.S., or academic requirements for admission into Curatorial and Art Conservation graduate studies programs.
