Dragonfly
a.k.a. Robin LaVerne Wilson
Interdisciplinary Artist
Dragonfly (Robin LaVerne Wilson) is a San Antonio-based interdisciplinary artist and Applied Theatre practitioner who makes art where performance, story, image, ritual, humor, and community collide. After twenty years in New York City working across film, music, performance art, and activism, she returned home in 2023 to explore aging, caregiving, memory, family, and Black womanhood. Her ongoing photographic collaboration with artist Theresa Newsome, TROPHIES, documents the intimate labor of caring for her mother and great-aunt, and her interactive solo theatre work, SNACKED UP IN PRAYER!, brings dementia and family caregiving to the stage. A recipient of the City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture FY2027 Individual Artist Grant, she is developing PSYCHIC SHRAPNEL, a multidisciplinary exploration of memory, family, grief, and paternal absence. For Dragonfly, Community IS the art. As a visual artist, she is works in mixed media 2D visual art, including collage, digital art, and experimental video.
