Donathen Donohue is a trans man who has taught himself art since childhood and received his first formal instruction from an art teacher in his final year of high school. He now begins his first year at A&M San Antonio, where he will pursue minors in business, computer science, and creative arts to advance his artistic career. Acrylic paint long held the title of favorite medium until inking won his heart. Each piece begins with a meaning, and Donathen sketches several compositions until one feels right, then blocks out messy color layers in a digital drawing app to test combinations and shades before he starts the final work. He lives by the motto "be the whimsy you want to see in the world" and fills that world with the color and interesting pieces he wants to see.
